Women's Bible Study Thursdays

"Focus on Luke" will be our women's study for fall. We will meet on Thursdays at 11:30am. Please bring a sack lunch. Holy Eucharist is at 1:30pm after the study.

Some interesting definitions that were discussed the first day of study:

• Gabriel means "God is my Hero"
• Joshua (or Jesse, a derivitive) is another name for Jesus and means "God has Saved"
• John means "God has shown favor"
• Theophilus means "Friend of God" or "Lover of God"
• Horn means "Power"
• Consolation means "Give relief to the poor and needy and/or the crushing of the common Jewish person or oppressed people"

Recently we discussed the very large subject of "FAITH" and talked about the following definitions:

• Nature of faith is acceptance of things unseen
• Rewards of faith are peace in your heart, knowledge of Jesus' help, knowing God is with you, you need God's guidance, a happy spirit, and good Christian friends
• Perils of faith are danger - in some places in the world you may lose your life for your faith
